Vendeuvre-du-Poitou 

This village of 3,000 inhabitants is ideally situated, half way between 2 important towns : Poitiers and Chatellerault (25 minutes driving). It's also close from the Futuroscope Park (10 minutes driving). Mainly rural, it's a quiet place to stay but nevertheless, all the services: bank, post, schools, chemist, doctors, library... are present. Many activities are proposed, thanks to the 37 sports and cultural associations. For more details, click on the page “associations” or on the page “sortir” (going out). 

The original celtic name of Vendeuvre “Vindobriga” means the white hill; indeed, the landscape isn't monotonous: marsh, woods, hills allow many itineraries for walks. A guided walk is organised by the Tourism Office every first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. (except in august). Many leaflets with different themes and lenghts are available. Click on the page “randonnées”. 

The Saint Aventin roman church offers its white tower in the center of the village. It’s closed for restoration at the moment. Between Vendeuvre and Chéneché, the gallo-roman archeological site of “The Tours Mirandes” is open to guided visits, please call the Tourism Office for more details or rendez-vous: click here:    Contact 

The main local feast is "the melon fair" which occurs on the last weekend of august. 

Chéneché

The 300 inhabitants wil be happy to welcome you in their village, located around the Seven Tower Castle surrounded with moats. Its was owned by famous families among which "Gilles de Rais", one of Jeanne d'Arc's war companion who inspired Charles Perrault's dreadful "Blue Beard" character. Today the townhall and the library are located in the former castle.

The Saint Vincent church was built in the Xth century. The porch of an ancient priory church is left. 

The main local feast is "the chrysanthemum fair" on the last weekend of october.

Marigny-Brizay

Old stones are really the main characteristic of this village. In the center, the church founded in the Xth century was modified in the XIXth century. On the hills around, there are several old mansions "Montfaucon" (XIIIth century), "La Mailleterie" (XVth century), "La Vauguyot" (XVIIth century), "Les Roches" (XIXth century), as well as the monumental door of "La Tour Signy" (XVIIth century) only remnant of an older castle (XVth century).

Many caves are used as cellars for the famous "Haut-Poitou" wine (for visits: click here).

The Saint-Léger-La-Pallu church offers an unusual aspect surrounded by a wineyard and close to a priory church lately transformed in a cultural space.

The main local feast is "Naturalia", a fair about nature, hunting, fishing, local produces. It occurs on the first sunday of september.
